Search work needs evidence of usefulness, not a visibility promise
What happened
Google’s Search Central guidance advises creating helpful, reliable, people-first content. It is a documentation briefing rather than evidence that a particular “GEO” service increases AI citations.
Why it matters
A useful first offer is to correct factual content, improve crawlability and test a defined set of questions. Record the baseline and the exact changes. Search or AI answer inclusion is not guaranteed, and a prompt screenshot alone does not establish causation.
Source and scope
Source reviewed 29 September 2026. Provider announcements report provider claims; these are not independent pilot results. Government and documentation briefings identify a rule or practice, not new customer demand.
